The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids’ National PSA Contest
Are you an aspiring Mel Brooks, Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, or Peter Jackson? Or maybe you're just a passionate tobacco-control advocate with a camera who is tired of Big Tobacco targeting kids?
Well, we have a contest for you!
The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids invites you to create an original video public service announcement, also known as a PSA, and enter it in our national Kicking Butts on Film contest. This is a great opportunity for youth to stand out, speak up, and seize control in the fight against tobacco.
What is a public service announcement (PSA)?
A public service announcement (PSA) is a free advertisement broadcast on radio or television that promotes information for the public good.
PSAs are intended to modify public attitudes by raising awareness about specific social issues. For this contest, we're asking you to create a 30-second video PSA.
What’s in it for you?
We know you would do it for free, but fear not, we have loot:
- Top 10 – The top 10 entries will receive a prize pack filled with Kick Butts Day gear
- 3rd Prize -$200 cash prize for your school or club
- 2nd Prize - $250 cash prize for your school or club
- Grand Prize- $300 cash prize for your school or club.
The winning PSA will also be shown at the Campaign for Tobacco-Free kids annual Youth Advocate of the Year Awards Gala in Washington, D.C. on May 20, 2008.
In addition to the cash prizes, the Grand, 2nd and 3rd prize winners will also receive a Kick Butts Day prize pack, have their PSAs featured on the Kick Butts Day Web site, and posted on the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids YouTube channel.
