Kick Butts this School Year

Don't wait until next March to stand out, speak up, and seize control against Big Tobacco! Take advantage of your time in school by organizing an in-school activity that will make a huge difference in our fight against Big Tobacco. Big Tobacco never takes a break and neither should we!

Some ideas:

How do you get people to realize just how deadly tobacco is? Bring tobacco's fatal figures to life with CSI: Cigarette Smoking Investigation.
What better time to expose Big Tobacco's lies than during PE? Talk to your PE teacher about organizing a Breathe Easy Mini Field Day during gym class to show students how cigarettes affect athletic performance.

These are great ways to keep up your activism and to educate your friends about Big Tobacco’s lies!

As an advocate for tobacco control, it’s extremely important to stay involved at school. As advocates, it is our responsibility to make sure that our friends and our peers are aware that tobacco use is still as gross, still as unhealthy, and still as wrong as it is away from school.

An activity that I’ve done at my own high school involves using sidewalk chalk at all of the entrances to school on the first day back from summer break. We used industry quotes, statistics, and even worked in the buzz line from our statewide media campaign. It does require school approval, but it really gets the point across, and it sends the right message from day one. Plus it’s a strong recruiting tool.
